If my people... - A changing season for Park City Church PDF Print E-mail
God's House, what is its purpose? Is it a place to meet and enjoy being in fellowship with one another in Jesus Christ? Yes. Is it a place to collectively worship our father in heaven? Yes. Is it a place when believers are discipled through the Word and the lives of their fellow disciples? Yes. Is it a place where believers can outwork their discipleship in obedience, stewardship, service, generosity and love? YES YES YES! All of these things are a present and critical part of every local church. These are all things we are given the privilege of doing and being in the local church. Naturally we also, if Jesus said "My house shall be a house of prayer for the nations" should equally understand that this is a privilege given to us to accomplish! Do you agree? If yes please read on!...

CompactCommunity $100 Project - Funds for a special boy PDF Print E-mail
ImageChocolate all round – but only in the name of impacting the community! And helping a family attend a conference about CHARGE syndrome.

The end of 2006 was fast approaching and still nothing had been done to fulfil our mission set out at the beginning of the year – multiply $100 and impact the community. Don’t think we hadn’t been praying for inspiration every time we met – we had, but all things are in Gods time.

ImageIn August, we were told about a young boy, Cameron, with CHARGE syndrome.  CHARGE syndrome? you may be asking. This is a term used to group a collection of medical abnormalities, and don’t worry, we hadn’t heard of it before either. It’s rare, so there isn’t much support available locally.

Cameron’s mother, wanted to attend a conference in Australia for advice and support from CHARGE experts, carers and sufferers. The conference was in October and, as one of our group has some connections in the travel industry from their days as a travel agent, we thought it would be easy to get some cheap (or free) deals. The blow came when we found out that she had already paid for the trip on her credit card. This turned our objective from getting some cheap deals to begging for cold hard cash.

ImageThe Open Home Foundation children received an extra special Christmas blessing in 2006, as part of the Wilkinson’s Home group community impact project - with gifts totaling to a value of $2800!

Vicky Creedon - Open Home Foundation
Vicky Creedon (OHF) receives the presents
"We have a confession to make.....The Home group compact community project of multiplying $100 to impact and bless our community was given to us at the beginning of 2006.....We successfully completed it on the 25th December 2006, yes our project deadline really was Christmas!

We came up with the idea of approaching the Taranaki branch of "The Open Home Foundation (OHF)" (www.ohfint.co.nz), a Christian organisation which, amongst other things, arrange for children in difficult family circumstances to be placed in foster care.  The idea was to ask if we could do something that would enable us to give a Christmas present to each child on their register.  ImageThe staff at the OHF were close to tears when they heard our proposal, so we knew we were on the right track, but we had to act fast with less than two and a half weeks till Christmas."
