Purity Of Heart
Motivation is a powerful thing
It gives us vision
It enables us
It empowers us – gives us drive to achieve
It gives productivity to our lives
We see results
We feel satisfied Sometimes life can deal us a few knocks! It happens to all of us…
A blow here or there, a negative word received and taken in and dwelt on.
Or our circumstances may change for what ever reason – and we are left feeling insecure.
We find our confidence becoming undermined
We let unforgivenss and offence enter our hearts.
We loose all confidence in who God had called us to be.
We begin to believe we are not effective for God
We can become less and less motivated for the things of God and then do things out of a wrong heart position… Motives can become impure
We focus on our self
We become listless
We feel unchallenged
We do things out of religious duty or obligation
We chase after things that are not of God
We feel overlooked
We stop contributing to the corporate whole
Our hearts grow cold
We end up limiting what God can do through us – depriving those around us of being ministered to by God through us. Hard hearts lead to dullness of hearing 2 Corinthians 7/11 – From The Message.
More alive, more concerned, more sensitive, more reverent, more human, more passionate, more responsible…Come out with purity of heart. Turn around! Set your heart once again on God and His purpose1. Walk in the spirit
Listen less to the soul and more to the Spirit of God
Let God till over the hard ground of our hearts in this Spring time season. “To walk in the spirit simply means instead of letting your soul and flesh rule over the choices you make, you surrender to what God would have you choose instead”. “Walking in the spirit allows you to experience intimacy with the Lord which releases his power in your life so you can fulfill your destiny in Christ. 2. Unclench the fists
If you let impure motives grow in your heart and your heart becomes hardened other things will begin to take root too… Jealousy, Anger, Rage, Bitterness, Unforgivness
You will become closed off and you will end up clenching your fists Naturally if our fists are closed – we can’t
Reach out
Grasp
We can’t give out
Or we are holding on tightly to something in our clenched fistTrust – this will foil jealousy
Forgive those who hurt you – this foils bitterness
Be gentle – Bible says gentleness conquers anger
Love your enemy – give them something to eat - this foils rage and revenge There is so much power in doing the opposite of what the flesh so wants to do. 3. Put away religiousness – become God chasers
Come into the church environment ready to meet with God, not to fulfill a religious duty.
SO much momentum can be gained through us all working together on the same page with the same agenda.
Be God chasers - always taking the opportunity to respond to God when it is given. Foil religiousness by involving yourself in other people’s lives – Life groups; winning one; reaching out to our friends
and neighbours who are in need – what is true religion – caring for widows and orphans. 4. Be clothed in the right clothes
In your walk with God when we have the right clothes on we will be able to
Function in the right way
Do the right things
Speak the right words at the right time
So God can do his thing in the people around us Bible tells us on all occasions to clothe ourselves with...
